Second Chance Boyfriend by Monica Murphy Blog Tour Interview + Giveaway!

Welcome to Hackaroo's stop on the Second Chance Boyfriend Blog Tour!!! On my stop, I have an author interview!
But first, here is some information on the book and author:
Goodreads Description:
**Recommended for ages 17+ due to sexual content and language, mature subject matter**
New Adult Contemporary
Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.
But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her.
Love her…
If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.
Forever.
Here is a little bit about Monica:

Monica Murphy writes books with boys and kissing in them. She also likes to read books with boys and kissing in them. Writer of new adult contemporary romance-ish stuff. Mom and wife. Native Californian.

And now for the interview!!!
1.  When was the first time you knew you wanted to be a writer?

When I was a teen and I snuck my mom’s romance books from the hall closet. I started reading them and couldn’t stop. After I read a ton, I decided that maybe I wanted to write one myself. It took a while (read: years) but I finally got around to trying my hand to writing a book. And I’ve been hooked ever since.

2.    Where did your idea for this series come from?

Fable has been with me for years. I tried to write a (terrible) YA with her as the main character back in 2009. Then I let her fade to the back of my mind until I saw a story on my local news about a teacher who was arrested for having sex with her seventeen year old student. That got the wheels turning in my brain and next thing I knew, I came up with the plot. And knew Fable would be the perfect girl for Drew.

3.    What part of the book is your favorite part to write?

The end. It’s usually this race to the finish line that I think I will complete in minutes but usually takes days. It’s exhilarating and exciting and sometimes frightening, especially if you’re putting your characters through the ringer. Which I did with Drew + Fable…

4.    When naming your characters, do you give any thought to the actual meaning?

With Fable, oh yes indeed, I gave her name a lot of thought. In fact, her name drives the entire story. It’s all about the fairy tale, myths, fables…and I gave Drew his name because he drew Fable in from the start. So yeah, there’s total meaning behind their names, absolutely.

5.    Who is your favorite author?

That is an impossible question I can’t even begin to answer only because I love too many authors!

6.    Do you think you will ever write anything in a different genre?

I might’ve already. And that’s all I’m going to say about that. *winks*

7.    What is the hardest part/scene in a book for you to write?

Well, in regards to One Week Girlfriend, there were a lot of parts hard for me to write. Any type of interaction between Drew and Adele was especially tough. I wanted her to be creepy and make the reader’s skin crawl but guess what? She made my skin crawl too. And I’m the one who created her!

8.    What are some habits you have while writing? (special foods, snacks, drinks...)

Well, I write a little bit, check Twitter, check Facebook, go back to writing, check Twitter again. I’m ridiculous. What fuels me when I’m writing? Diet Coke! Cut me open and I probably bleed brown carbonated liquid. *winks*

9.    What’s the best thing about being an author?

I love being able to create these worlds and live in them while I write them. I love that I’m able to work from home, that I can be here for my kids and my husband if they need me. I’ve met some amazing fellow writers and they are all such a supportive bunch. Oh, and I get to look at pictures of hot guys on the Internet all in the name of research! Ha.

10. Are you working on anything now? If so, what is it?

I am! I’m working on the first book for my new three book series with Avon Impulse. It’s a romance, skews a little older than my first two new adult titles, but the story is told in first person, alternating point of views. The heroes are best friends who just so happen to be billionaires (of course!) and they make a stupid (and expensive) bet that no woman will ever tie them down. I of course, will ensure that every single one of them will fall head over heels in love with a woman. So far, it’s been a lot of fun.

Thanks for having me today! I enjoyed answering your questions. J

And thank YOU so much, Monica for taking the time to answer my silly questions!
