EXCERPT:

“Tell me your name.” A shiver runs down my spine at the commanding, deep voice that sounds in my ear. I keep myself still, trying my best not to react considering we’re surrounded by at least a hundred people, but oh, how I want to.If I could, I’d throw myself into the arms of the man who’s standing far too close to me.  He’s demanding to know my name as if I owe him some sort of favor, which I can’t help but find hot.Irritating, but hot.“Tell me yours first,” I murmur in return, turning my head in the opposite direction, so it appears I’m not even talking to him. He stands behind me, tall and broad, imposing in his immaculate black suit and crisp white shirt—the silvery tie he wears perfectly knotted at his throat.I might not be looking at this very moment, but I’d memorized everything about him the moment I first saw him not an hour ago. He’d drawn plenty of attention without saying a word, striding into the room as if he owned it, casting that calculating gaze upon everyone in attendance. Looking very much like the mighty king observing his lowly subjects—until his eyes lit upon me.He watched me for long, agonizing minutes. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach as I felt his hungry eyes rake over my body, and for a terrifying moment I wondered if he could see right through me. I shifted the slightest bit, inwardly cursing myself for coming tonight, but I held firm. I refused to react.I still refuse to react.“You don’t know who I am?” He sounds amused at the notion, and I’m tempted to walk away without a word. My earlier nerves evaporate, replaced by a steely spine and an even steelier attitude. He’s so confident, so arrogant, I’m sure he believes he has me.He doesn’t know who he’s dealing with then, does he?We’re at a local wine- and brewery-tasting, and I’m here representing the bakery my family owns. The one I was recently allowed to take over and run since I’d graduated college. The business they all believe is going to fail. So why not give it to Marina? She can’t screw it up too badly. That’s what I overheard my father telling my uncle. The memory of his words still cuts straight to the bone. Finally I chance a glance at the man behind me, drinking in his thick brown hair tinged with gold, the way it tumbles across his forehead, his twinkling green eyes, the faint smile that curves his full lips. The combination gives him a boyish appearance. It’s a complete illusion because there is nothing boyish about this virile man before me.“Perhaps you can enlighten me.” I offer a carefree smile and turn to face him, the nerves returning tenfold when he takes a step toward me, invading my personal space. His scent hits me first: clean and subtle, a mixture of soap and just . . . him. No cologne that I can detect.Rather unusual. Most of the men I know slather themselves in expensive scents all with the purpose of drawing us silly women in. Instead, they end up choking us.With the exception of this man. I find the uniqueness refreshing.A slow smile appears, revealing perfectly straight white teeth. “Gage Emerson.” He thrusts his hand toward me. “And you are . . .?”He’s not very subtle. And he’s exactly who I suspected, not that I had any real doubt. The very man who recently bought up what feels like half of the Napa Valley, all in the hopes of turning it around and selling it to God knows who just to earn a hefty profit. Not caring in the least that he’s forever changing the landscape of the very place I’ve grown up in. And devastating my family in the process.“Marina Knight,” I say. God, I sound breathless, and I want to smack myself. I’m not here tonight because of him. I came for other reasons. To promote the family bakery, to mix and mingle with local business owners, many I consider friends. My life in the Napa Valley is all I know. And this gorgeous man standing in front of me is trying to take what I know away from me for good.

What did I think?
I haven't read the first book in this series but I am really interested in grabbing it to catch up.
So I kind of read this as a stand alone novel which it really could be. I thought this book was really cute with some hotness in between.
I thought Gage was sexy as hell and wanted to jump hjs bones myself at times. LOL He also hid a very sweet side that no one really gets to see. He was a really good character that you could instantly like.
Marina was pretty awesome herself. I thought she was a strong, independant woman who know what she wants. I liked how she wanted to make things happen and be something. She has dreams that she was willing to reach for. I admired her for that.
Gage & Marina's chemestry jumped off the pages and was painfully evident. I loved that they brought out the worst in each other as well as the best. They couldn't seem to say the right things around each other which I thought was pretty funny.
Overall, this was a really easy, hot read with just the right amount of lust and romance. I would recommend this to my friends and read this over. I loved the characters and the way they connect with each other.
Although I wanted to smack the crap out of Marina's mom, I thought the book was overall really good. I wouldn't mind reading this again. I can't wait to read Archer's book and I'm hoping that she has the third coming out soon.
Monica Murphy really has a great talent with storytelling that keeps you trapped in the book. She knows how to write the right sex scenes and make them hot but not trashy. Murphy is one of my favorite authors and one that I will be watching for a long time.
No one writes like Monica Murphy. She knows how to combine the right amount of sex, romance, comedy and heart. Thoroughly enjoyed this read.

{Cover Reveal} Four Years Later by Monica Murphy

Four Years Later by Monica Murphy

Blurb:
Guilt. That is all I ever feel when I think about my mom. Now she's back in my life, always wanting something. Having her around makes it so easy for me to fall into those bad habits that get me into trouble. Skipping class, smoking weed, fooling around with girls that mean nothing to me...I'm messing up. The last thing I need is my sister on my case.
So I keep my mom's return a secret. But promising I'll get my grades back up on my own isn't enough. Fable makes me see a tutor. And Chelsea is the smartest girl I've ever met. She's definitely not my type but there's something about her that I'm drawn to. She's sweet, she's shy and she seems completely immune to my usual moves.
Chelsea has her own secrets and she's not talking. Like I have any room to judge. How can I get her to open up to me? And will I ever be able to convince her that what we have could be something real?

One Week Girlfriend & Second Chance Boyfriend by Monica Murphy Reviews

One Week Girlfriend & Second Chance Boyfriend Reviews
Goodreads Description:
**Mature situations and sexual content - recommended for ages 17+**

Temporary. That one single word best describes my life these last few years. I’m working at a temporary job until I can finally break free. I’m my little brother’s temporary mother since our mom doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I’m that temporary girl all the guys want to get with because I give it up so easily. According to the rumors, at least.
But now I’m the temporary girlfriend of Drew Callahan, college football legend and all around golden guy. He’s beautiful, sweet—and he’s hiding way more secrets than I am. He’s brought me into this fake life where everyone seems to hate me. And everyone seems to want something from him. The only thing he seems to want though is…
Me.
I don’t know what to believe anymore. All I know is, I think Drew needs me. And I want to be there for him.
Forever.
How did I hear about this gem of a series?
Well I actually heard about this series by signing up to be  part of a blog tour. I haven't heard too much about it and I hadn't really had it on my radar. But all I can say is this: I am so glad I chose to be a part of this tour because wow. I loved this series.
What did I think?
I will say that I was really intrigued by the blurb on the back and couldn't wait to start it. Once I started reading, I was immediately hooked....drawn in by the words and the total story.
I will say I was wary because I have been reading a few books lately that seem to follow the same sort of pattern. I was pleasantly surprised that this was different than what I originally thought.
Let's start with Fable. Have I mentioned how much I actually love that name? Seriously....so completely perfect for this story. She's so strong and passionate. I loved her from the beginning. I also loved how she was flawed and yet didn't hide from it.
Drew was the ultimate dreamy football player. Big, strong and gorgeous. He looks like he has it all together but there is a deeper, mysterious side of Drew that slowly gets revealed throughout the book. I actually liked the fact that the male character had the trauma and not the girl, which is the norm.

I loved the chemistry between Drew and Fable. It sizzled and sparked all over the place and I couldn't help but practically feeling it come off the pages. And I mean not just the chemistry between these two was apparent but EVERYTHING was so clear.
The week with Drew's family was full of mystery, angst, tension, and pretty much every emotion you can think of. I fell in love with this book and the story telling was completely excellent.
Murphy's writing was really beautiful in this book and everything flowed so perfectly. I can't wait to get my hands on the second book in the series. Looks like to be just as exciting as the first!

Goodreads Description:
**Recommended for ages 17+ due to sexual content and language, mature subject matter**
New Adult Contemporary
Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.
But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her.
Love her…
If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.
Forever.

What did I think?
OMG where do I even start with this epic second book?! No words can fully describe the feelings throughout this entire book. I laughed, raged, cried, swooned and gasped. I went through them ALL.
Fable & Drew's relationship is on the rocky side since Drew found out some shocking news at the end of One Week Girlfriend. No worries, I'm not putting spoilers in here because I don't want to ruin it for anyone else. Especially since I will be definitely be referring this series to EVERYONE.
Drew & Fable have been through a lot. Yes, they only spent a week together so far but man....what a week. When you have that instant connection with another person, it just will not let you go.
When I started reading Second Chance Boyfriend, I thought I had a pretty good idea of what was going to go down. Monica Murphy completely went in a different direction. Although I saw a couple things coming, the overall story threw me for a loop.
Since this is so new, I will have to do a short review because the things happen in this book that I cannot mention (spoilers) are pretty epic. I can't wait to read what everyone else says about these fantastic books. I recommend them to everyone who wants a good story that has every emotion you can think of. I actually did a fist pump in the air as well at one point. Once you read it, I'm sure you'll know what part I'm referring to. ;-)

Second Chance Boyfriend by Monica Murphy Blog Tour Interview + Giveaway!

Welcome to Hackaroo's stop on the Second Chance Boyfriend Blog Tour!!! On my stop, I have an author interview!
But first, here is some information on the book and author:
Goodreads Description:

New Adult Contemporary

Here is a little bit about Monica:

And now for the interview!!!
1.  When was the first time you knew you wanted to be a writer?

When I was a teen and I snuck my mom’s romance books from the hall closet. I started reading them and couldn’t stop. After I read a ton, I decided that maybe I wanted to write one myself. It took a while (read: years) but I finally got around to trying my hand to writing a book. And I’ve been hooked ever since.

2.    Where did your idea for this series come from?

Fable has been with me for years. I tried to write a (terrible) YA with her as the main character back in 2009. Then I let her fade to the back of my mind until I saw a story on my local news about a teacher who was arrested for having sex with her seventeen year old student. That got the wheels turning in my brain and next thing I knew, I came up with the plot. And knew Fable would be the perfect girl for Drew.

3.    What part of the book is your favorite part to write?

The end. It’s usually this race to the finish line that I think I will complete in minutes but usually takes days. It’s exhilarating and exciting and sometimes frightening, especially if you’re putting your characters through the ringer. Which I did with Drew + Fable…

4.    When naming your characters, do you give any thought to the actual meaning?

With Fable, oh yes indeed, I gave her name a lot of thought. In fact, her name drives the entire story. It’s all about the fairy tale, myths, fables…and I gave Drew his name because he drew Fable in from the start. So yeah, there’s total meaning behind their names, absolutely.

5.    Who is your favorite author?

That is an impossible question I can’t even begin to answer only because I love too many authors!

6.    Do you think you will ever write anything in a different genre?

I might’ve already. And that’s all I’m going to say about that. *winks*

7.    What is the hardest part/scene in a book for you to write?

Well, in regards to One Week Girlfriend, there were a lot of parts hard for me to write. Any type of interaction between Drew and Adele was especially tough. I wanted her to be creepy and make the reader’s skin crawl but guess what? She made my skin crawl too. And I’m the one who created her!

8.    What are some habits you have while writing? (special foods, snacks, drinks...)

Well, I write a little bit, check Twitter, check Facebook, go back to writing, check Twitter again. I’m ridiculous. What fuels me when I’m writing? Diet Coke! Cut me open and I probably bleed brown carbonated liquid. *winks*

9.    What’s the best thing about being an author?

I love being able to create these worlds and live in them while I write them. I love that I’m able to work from home, that I can be here for my kids and my husband if they need me. I’ve met some amazing fellow writers and they are all such a supportive bunch. Oh, and I get to look at pictures of hot guys on the Internet all in the name of research! Ha.

10. Are you working on anything now? If so, what is it?

I am! I’m working on the first book for my new three book series with Avon Impulse. It’s a romance, skews a little older than my first two new adult titles, but the story is told in first person, alternating point of views. The heroes are best friends who just so happen to be billionaires (of course!) and they make a stupid (and expensive) bet that no woman will ever tie them down. I of course, will ensure that every single one of them will fall head over heels in love with a woman. So far, it’s been a lot of fun.

Thanks for having me today! I enjoyed answering your questions. J

And thank YOU so much, Monica for taking the time to answer my silly questions!
